Why India Outreach?
Read about why Breast Cancer Hub is conducting outreach throughout India.
INDIA OUTREACH 2018 - 2024
bch adopted 34 villages (Assam, West bengal, odisha).
“The inception of Village Adoption comes from an emotional drive, I met an 18-year-old girl during outreach in Bhorakhai, Assam, on July 28, 2019 - her mother just passed away from Breast Cancer as she was not aware of the early signs & was shy to discuss due to Breast “Taboo”. That’s when I decided as a promise to myself - No more Lives to be Lost due to ignorance & stigma from this village - Dr. Lopamudra Das Roy”. We adopted eleven villages since February 2020.
DOOR TO DOOR SCREENING, TREATMENT AID & MANAGEMENT, COUNSELING, PALLIATIVE CARE
Penetrating deeper, going to each member, each household, maintaining database & follow-ups, for cancer screening, treatment management, palliative care & counseling. The population was ~100% NOT AWARE on Cancer signs & symptoms. After our penetration, everyone is alert & mindful, reaching out to us with any abnormalities immediately. We monitor & manage each patient individually, case by case.
WE TAKE SUSPICIOUS CASES FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS, MONITOR & MANAGE EACH PATIENT INDIVIDUALLY
BCH has become the bridge to connect with the healthcare system. BCH team assists the patients from taking them to the hospital, helping with income certificate, AAA card, hospital registration, to patient communication with the doctor, covers all expenses starting from transport, purchasing medicines, Diagnostic tests, Surgical procedures not covered under the government schemes, accompanying patients in the full diagnosis process, with follow-ups & counseling
ANTI - TOBACCO CAMPAIGN
Tobacco chewing/smoking is existent in almost each household in North-east India & people are unaware about the deleterious effects leading to Cancer & many diseases. We relentlessly educate & discuss other Preventative measures with Cancer.
